Anniversary Mahaquizzer 2013 - Pune Results

Quite a good year for Pune quizzers at the second Mahaquizzer of the year.

J. Ramamand makes the top 10 in India with a score of 63/150

Other quizzers who took the quiz in Pune and finished in the top 100 were:

29th: Nilay Puntambekar (51/150)
83rd: Saikat Sarkar (33/150)
92nd: Aniketh Rallabhandi (30/150)

Also Srisha Haridas just missed out on the top 100 with 28/150 getting a rank of 105

Regular Pune quizzer Suraj Menon (took the quiz from Mumbai this year) won the All India College title with a score of 60 - finishing rank 15th in the country on the open section

Prior registration is a must for both events to allow proctors a chance to get the correct number of sheets.

Mahaquizzer 2013 results

Oops! We seem to have forgotten to post the results for Mahaquizzer this year.

Pune results were as follows: 

Open Category winner:  Kunal Sawardekar - 62 pts
2nd: J Ramanand - 57 pts

College winner: Aditya Akhauri - 26 pts

Ladies winner: Sravya Darbhamulla

Four Pune quizzers made the top 100 (ranks in brackets) - Kunal (23), Ramanand (27), Aditya Gadre (51), Roshith Mohan (87)

In addition to this, Suraj Menon (19) and Aniket Khasgiwale (78) also made the top 100.

KQA Mahaquizzer 2013


The ninth edition of MahaQuizzer will be held on Sunday 26th May 2013.

As usual, the quiz will require takers to answer 150 questions in 90 minutes.Prizes in each city for best School, College, Lady and Open entrant.

The event starts at 1000 hrs sharp. Participants are requested to report latest by 0930 hrs on 26 May 2013 at the respective locations.

In Pune, the event will be held at the College of Engineering, Pune, Shivajinagar. The room number is yet to be confirmed. Vibhav Bhave will proctor the proceedings.

Mahaquizzer 2012 - Pune details

KQA Announcement


The eighth edition of MahaQuizzer will be held in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, New Delhi, Bhubaneshwar, Guwahati, Panaji, Coimbatore, Thrissur and Mysore on Sunday 27th May 2012.

MahaQuizzer is the National Solo Quizzing Championship.
It is open to all, though we recommend that the taker be at least 12 years of age. The quiz will require takers to answer 150 questions in 90 minutes--in celebration of the ethic of working out questions.

Entry is free in most centres; some quiz associations may charge a nominal entry fee to recover venue costs.

The setters are: Mitesh Agarwal, Urmila Lakshmanan, Vivek Kartikeyan, Rajagopal P.S., and Rahul Kottalgi.

Prizes will be awarded in each city for the best performances from School, College, Lady and Open entrants. In addition, the all-India winner will receive the Wing Commander GR Mulky Memorial Trophy for Quizzing Excellence at the three-day KQA Anniversary Celebrations in June (29, 30 June and 1 July). We will also put up a list of the top 100 scores in India.

It is always a good idea to register well in advance. This will allow us to make adequate arrangements for seating and for question-papers.

Mahaquizzer 2011

"Mahaquizzer" is India's biggest solo quiz. This year's edition will be held on the 29th of May (Sunday) from 10 am. Prior registrations are recommended as different venues have different seating capacities, and on-the-spot registrations cannot be guaranteed. Plus, this helps the organisers plan better.

Mahaquizzer 2010 (with Pune details)

The announcement for this year's Mahaquizzer follows. A short summary (with Pune venue details) is as follows:

When: 30 May (Sunday), 9 am onwards (timing to be confirmed)

Where in Pune: Landmark, SGS Mall, Moledina Road, Pune

To register: write to mahaquizzer@gmail.com with Pune in the subject line (since the venue may only has limited seating, it is recommended that you register in advance, by 23rd May).

Prizes: for the best quizzer, lady quizzer, school quizzer, college quizzer; as usual, the BCQC will sponsor additional prizes in some of these categories.

Note: the venue will not have desks, so you may want to get a writing pad along with your pen.

We will hold the sixth edition of Mahaquizzer across 14 cities on Sunday, 30 May 2010. The cities where centres are being offered are Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Pune, Guwahati, Panaji, Thrissur, Mysore and Coimbatore. If we are able to obtain permission, Singapore will also figure among the venues.

The Quiz

Mahaquizzer is the National Quizzing Championship. It is open to individual entrants, irrespective of age or other affiliations (though we do suggest that the taker is at least 12 years old). There is no entry fee--except in Kolkata where hall-hire expenses will be met thus.

As always, contestants are required to answer 150 questions over 90 minutes.

Four prizes will be given out in each city: Best Quizzer, Best Woman Quizzer, Best College Quizzer and Best School Quizzer.

The person recording the highest score across all centres will hold the title of Mahaquizzer for 2010. She/he will also be awarded the Wing Commander G.R. Mulky Trophy for Quizzing Excellence. This trophy will be presented during ASKQANCE, the KQA 27th Anniversary Open Quiz Festival scheduled for 19th and 20th June 2010.

The Question-setters

Mahaquizzer 2010 has been set by Arun Hiregange, Dibyendu Das, Thejaswi Udupa, Mitesh Agarwal and Ochintya Sharma. Mitesh Agarwal will coordinate the event across all centres.

How to register

  1. Participants interested in registering should mail Mahaquizzer@gmail.com (Mahaquizzer at gmail dot com)
  2. Please mention the city where you would like to appear from in the subject-header.
  3. Please do mention age and institutional affiliations if you are a student.
  4. Since seating is limited in many centres, local coordinators will work on a first-come first-served basis. Please register by Sunday 23 May 2010 to avoid disappointment.
  5. No entries will be accepted by email after the 23rd. However city coordinators may allow entries on the spot if there is adequate seating.
  6. You will receive a mail confirming your entry latest by 28th May 2010. If you fail to receive your confirmation, please text the details to either Mitesh Agarwal (98452-59423) or your city coordinator (see http://kqaquizzes.org for details).

Mahaquizzer 2009 - Pune details

India's biggest solo quizzing competition Mahaquizzer returns with its fifth edition. See below for the official announcement. Pune is one of the centres, so here's a summary of the details with Pune-specific notes:

Mahaquizzer 2008 - Results

The Mahaquizzer national top 100 is finally out. You can peruse the entire list here.

Congratulations are in order to Arul Mani for comprehensively topping (even if he did a Tendulkar-'07). Only 5 people achieve the 80+ mark, the level which many people claim should debar them from taking Mahaquizzer again ;)

Congratulations are also in order to (Pune winner) Ramanand for a decent showing, even though he just misses out on the national top 10.

KQA 'Mahaquizzer' 2007

The Karnataka Quiz Association will hold the third edition of Mahaquizzer, the annual solo quiz contest, in Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and New Delhi on Sunday, 27 May 2007.

Mahaquizzer is a written quiz; 150 general questions to be answered in 90 minutes.

Prizes will be awarded to the person with the top score in each city, as also to the best woman entrant, the best college entrant and the best school entrant in each city.

The person with the top score across the cities will hold the title of Mahaquizzer for this year. The winner will also receive the Wing Commander Mulky Memorial Trophy for Quizzing Excellence from Wingco's family on Sunday, 24 June at the time of the KQA Anniversary.
