The BC Cup 2017 - Annoucement

The BC Cup is the BCQC's annual bigly, YUUUUGE open solo quiz to crown the Best Sports Quizzer. This is the 9th edition of the quiz

Restrictions: (or the lack of one) Open quiz. Everyone is welcome
Time: 12:45 pm, Saturday, 6th May, 2017
Venue: The Boat Club, College of Engineering Pune

Prizes: Cash prizes totalling INR 9000 (up almost 40% this year!)
1st place: INR 3000
2nd place: INR 1500
3rd and 4th place: INR 1000 each
5th to 8th place: INR 500 each 
Best U-22 participant (who doesn't qualify for the quarters): INR 500

Format: First, a 30 question elim determines 8 qualifiers (or Quarter Finalists). These 8 people take part in a 60 question quarter final. The top four go through to the semi final. The semi-final will consist of 36 questions with scoring reset to zero. The top two then go to the Final where they face off one-on one for a 24 question final.

Format:   

First, a 30 question prelim determines 8 qualifiers (or Quarter Finalists). These 8 people take part in a 60 question quarter final. The top four go through to the semi final. The semi-final will consist of 36 questions with scoring reset to zero. The top two then go to the Final where they face off one-on one for a 24 question final. 

The top college finisher (UG only, we may ask for ID cards) will get a prize in addition to all the top eight open finishers

BC Cup 2015 - Announcement

The BC Cup is the BCQC's annual solo, open quiz to crown the Best Sports Quizzer. This is the seventh edition. 

Format:   

First, a 30 question elim determines 8 qualifiers (or Quarter Finalists). These 8 people take part in a 60 question quarter final. The top four go through to the semi final. The semi-final will consist of 36 questions with scoring reset to zero. This is to keep the 'winning three consecutive matches' concept constant from last year's edition. The top two then go to the Final where they face off one-on one for a 28 question final. 

This year we are introducing an additional round for the top 4 college quizzers who do not qualify for the Open section. There will be a 24 question "College final" for these 4 college quizzers between the Quarter finals and the Semi finals of the Open Section

Venue: Academic Complex., COEP, Pune (next to the BC). Given the venue, we have to declare a dress code: no shorts, as COEP has become finicky about not allowing people wearing shorts in the Complex.

June Open Quizzes

The BCQC is organising two open quizzes in June. Details:

Date: 15 June 2014 (Sunday)
Venue: Seminar Hall, Academic Complex., COEP, Pune (next to the BC). For the first ever time in BCQC history, we have to declare a dress code(!): full-length trousers for guys, as COEP has become finicky about not allowing people wearing shorts in the Complex.

Quiz 1: "Flags of the World"

When: 2:15 pm to 3:15 pm 

Theme: um, flags of the world

Format: written, for all teams

Registration: free, open to all

Teams: teams of two members each, but we're going to experiment this time by randomly pairing together all participants (gives you a chance to team up with someone new)

Quiz 2: "The June Open"

When: 3:30 pm to 5:45 pm 

Theme: Music, Entertainment, Literature, Arts, Sports (i.e. a Lt. General Quiz)

Announcement: Conundrums - the Mood Indigo General Quiz - Pune round

What: Conundrums is the Mood Indigo (IIT Bombay) General Quiz. Two preliminary rounds are being organised in Pune and Chennai, ahead of the preliminary, semis, and finals in Mumbai in December

Who is this for: College students in Pune

What's at stake: The Pune prelims give two teams a direct entry into the semi final stage in December. You don't have to fight the large number of competitive teams

in the Mumbai prelims for a place in the semis. And if you don't qualify here, you can always go to Mumbai for one more attempt.

The General Quiz final during Mood Indigo has cash prizes worth Rs. 30,000/-

When: the Pune round will be held on 12 Oct (Sat) at 2 pm

Where: COEP (hall to be confirmed)

What's the format:

there will be a 25 question written prelim, followed by a stage final for the top 4 teams. 2 teams will make it to the semis.

Avaneendra Bhargav will be running a quiz Suraj Menon recently conducted at some village in Jharkhand. This is a Sports-Entertainment aka SpEnt Quiz. Just like all other Suraj Menon quizzes, it is nice, fun  and interesting quiz.
